My Story

Contact Me

I am originally from Michigan and moved to Arizona in 2005. I have been engaged for three and a half years and I am the mother of a beautiful baby girl. My birth was attended by a midwife, doula, my mother, a close friend and my fiance in a hospital. I strongly believe that because of my support system, I was able to have the natural birth that I wanted. I am currently working towards my doula certification through CAPPA. I am also a student midwife, learning the way our ancestors learned, through self study and apprenticeship.

My Journey

I had a love of birth since I was twelve and witnessed the birth of a cousin. I could never get enough of The Baby Story or any other similar show. In college I studied pre-med with the intentions on becoming an obstetrician. However, it was not until my own pregnancy that I realized the burden and doubt that have been placed on childbearing women in our society. Almost every pregnant woman hears stories of how long, painful, and tiring someone else's labor was. It is displayed on our television programs, movies, in magazines, and embedded in our minds that childbirth is painful and problematic. I quickly realized that it was foolish for me to be afraid to do the most miraculous thing in the world, give life. I could not understand how something so empowering and life changing could be met with animosity. I found the other side of birth, it was softer, gentler and natural. I switched my care, took a break from my studies and focused on a different subject, natural childbirth. I found so many things that touched me deeply. I had found my calling.

My Philosophy

I believe that birth is inherently miraculous and extremely spiritual. My role as a doula is to protect and preserve this moment in its purest form. I have found that my calling is to educate, support and empower women with the knowledge that this is your birth, your way.  I want to show women that they have a choice. We as women have control over what happens to our bodies and our babies. If birth was left to its natural progression with little interference and proper support, more than 85% would go on to have natural deliveries. I believe that birth today is complicated because we intervene too much. We need to listen to our bodies and our babies, they know what to do even if we do not think they do. Birth is a beautiful experience, I want to make sure that yours is.
